About MRDC

The Medicinal Plants Research and Development Centre was established in 2003 in an area of 40 hectare for initiating research and development activities on medicinal and aromatic plants. It is situated at 29.0 0 North latitude and 79.40 East longitude at an altitude of 243.84 metres above the mean sea level. The climate of the place is humid sub-tropics with maximum temperature ranging from 31.50 C to 41.10 C in summer and minimum temperature varying from 2.00 C to 10.00 C in winter. Monsoon occurs from third week of June to the middle of September. Frost may be expected from last week of December to the first week of February. The soil type is Sandy clay loam having about 7.2 pH.
The centre is maintaining 260 species of medicinal and aromatic plants including trees, shrubs, climbers and herbs in modern medicinal plants garden and in herbal garden.
The quality planting materials of Satavar, Kali haldi, Aama haldi and Sarpgandha, Aloe and other important medicinal and aromatic plants are available for sale. The raw drugs of important medicinal plants like Kalmegh,Arjun, Kawanch and Triphala are also available for sale. The centre caters the need of farmers, researchers, students and other stakeholders.

Mission: Promotion of cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants, based on research and development in Uttarakhand.
