About VRC

Vegetable Research Centre (VRC) was carved out from the Horticulture Research Centre (HRC), Patharchatta in 1999. It was shifted to new location opposite to Haldi Road Railway Station in 2002. The Vegetable Research Centre of G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar is geographically situated at an altitude of 243.84 m above mean sea level with a latitude of 290N and longitude of 79.30E. The climate of the area is humid sub-tropical with maximum temperature ranging from 320C to 430C in summer (May-June) and minimum temperature ranging from 20C to 100C in winter (January). The monsoon starts in month of June and often remains active up to September. High rainfall (135 cm per annum) and wide temperature fluctuations are salient features of Pantnagar tarai. Frost can be expected from last week of December to first week of February. Centre has about 100 acre (40 hectare) land exclusively for seed production and to conduct research trials on different vegetable crops.

Mission: To enhance productivity of vegetable crops on sustainable basis.
