Abstract

Mechanization of agriculture having being the only way to address shortage of agricultural labour, has been adopted in few cultivation operations of garlic, one of the most important crop spices in India. Attempts to mechanize planting and harvesting operation in garlic have led to the development of farm machinery prototypes in different parts of India. This paper aims to present an overview of the present status and avenues of further mechanizing the cultivation of garlic in India.
