Medicinal Plants Research & Development Centre



About MRDC

The Centre was established at Haldi in the year 2003 over an area of 40 ha for conducting research and generation of elite planting material for the farmers to promote the cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants in the state. The centre is maintaining 260 species of medicinal and aromatic plants including trees, shrubs, climbers and herbs in modern medicinal plants garden and in herbal garden.The quality planting materials of Satavar, Kali haldi, Aamahaldi and Sarpgandha, Aloe and other important medicinal and aromatic plants are available for sale. The raw drugs of important medicinal plants like Kalmegh, Arjun, Kawanch and Triphala are also available for sale. The centre caters the need of farmers, researchers, students and other stakeholders.

Mandate:
  • Collection, evaluation and maintenance of germplasm.
  • Conservation of genetic biodiversity of MAPs.
  • Popularizing medicinal and aromatic plants by developing and strengthening the R&D in agro-techniques, PHP, product development and marketing.
  • Setting up commercial nursery and quality seed production.
  • Training farmers for commercial cultivation of MAPs.
  • Demonstration and training on oil distillation from aromatic plants.
  • Providing knowledge-based services for entrepreneurship development in the area of MAPs.
  • The centre is maintaining 260 species of medicinal and aromatic plants including trees, shrubs, climbers and herbs in modern medicinal plants garden and in herbal garden.
  • The quality planting materials of Satavar, Kali haldi, Aamahaldi and Sarpgandha, Aloe and other important medicinal and aromatic plants are available for sale. The raw drugs of important medicinal plants like Kalmegh, Arjun, Kawanch and Triphala are also available for sale.
  • Quality evaluation of essential oil of important aromatic plants is under progress.
  • Quality planting material of lemon grass, mentha, vach, brahmi, citronella and Aloe vera produced.
