About HRC
Horticulture Research Centre (HRC), Patharchatta was created in 1968 under Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar. Horticulture Research Centre is spread in an area of about 181hectare, exclusively for research and commercial aspects of fruits. The centre is enriched with a wide wealth of fruit crops like, mango, guava, litchi, citrus, papaya, peach, plum, pear, aonla, ber, bael, Karonda, custard apple, sapota, jackfruit, jamun, Banana etc. The centre has its own state of the art fruit nursery to nourish its own as well as of the farmers requirement by providing authentic plant material of fruit crops.
Mission: Development and dissemination of modern horticultural technologies & imparting knowledge to budding researchers.
Mandate:
- Management of genetic resources and varietal evaluation in fruit crop.
- Development of technologies for enhancing productivity and quality of fruit crops.
- Facilitate teaching and research works.
- Production of high-quality planting materials of fruit crops.
- Demonstration and training of advanced horticultural technologies.
Infrastructure & Resources:
- Commercial fruit orchards- 88.2 ha.
- Research experiment fields (including different fruit crops) – 44.8 ha.
- Newly established orchards (Mango, litchi & guava)- 20.0 ha.
- Nursery area including protected structures, mother blocks of various fruit crop- 8.0 ha.
- Fallow land – 10.0 ha. (for need based future expansion of exotic and minor fruit crops)
- Area other than orchard (Office building, residential complex, labour shed, huts etc.) 10.0 ha.

- Standardization of Training and Pruning.
